Services

SERVICES: The Center has a library of brochures and bulletin boards of human services in the Northwest that can be accessed during office hours.  There is a public computer available to access Worksource, unemployment insurance, and DSHS applications.  The computer can be used to build a resume.  Assistance with resumes is available.  Domestic violence advocates and Drug assessments and councseling for teens is available by appointment.  The School Buddies Program by Big Brother Big Sisters is provided during the school year to visit at risk students at lunch.  Low income families with children can receive hygiene articles once a month through the Other Bank, which operates at the center on Tuesdays from 10-12 during the school year.

PROGRAMS:  Strengthening Familes will have seven sessions beginning Fall/Winter 2011 to provide parents with youth 10-14 to strengthen their relationships.  The Ferndale Holiday Giving Store connects gift givers with community children.

ASSISTANCE:  Housing applications for income based rentals are available at the center, along with knowledgeable assistance in completing them.  Shower vouchers for Ferndale, Lynden, or Bellingham YMCA can be picked up, and bus tickets may be issued to gain access to resource agencies.  The center provides 911 emergency cellphones for victims of domestic violence or sexual assault.  Free condoms are available to protect against STDs.  There is a small clothing bank at the Center.

REFERRALS:  Knowledgeable individuals can answer questions and offer information and referrals dealing with medical, dental, legal, seniors, parents, food banks, clothing banks, energy assistance, housing assistance, and more.  Help is available to fill out relevant applications.
